The Swedish State Railways' first 4-wheel passenger waggons, manufactured in the end of 19th centuary, were very short, with metal body, and a lantern roof. Although 8-wheel passenger carriages were being manufactured in the 1890's, 4-wheel waggons were still very cost effective to manufacture, so the development of those continued. The new ones were made longer, and fitted with rod supports. Roofs became vaulted and without a lantern. In the 1910's metal bodies were abandoned for teak bodies. Class C3c, with lantern, and the first manufactured class C3d, with smooth roof, had metal bodies. Later manufactured class C3d had teak bodies, as did class C3e and C3g. Class C3d with teak body was manufactured in 200 units. Class C3d with metal body, C3e and C3g, were manufactured in in 75 units each. The waggons were used in commuter trains. The waggons were in service until the 1950's. |
