Café Bakfickan

Stadshotellets bakficka

At the end of the evening members and visitors normally gather around with a cup of coffee in the coffee corner, aka. Café Bakfickan. Some chat and sometimes an interesting video or some picture to look at is the topic. The club room is also equipped with a small library from which the members may borrow a book or magazine.

One of the coffee tables is in the shape of a Timesaver where it is possible to challenge others in the mystery of switching problems and some examples of pictures are Desk-top Pictures created to be used as backdrop pictures on a screen.

A guest book is available both for the home page and in the club room when you visit us. Please feel free to use any of them and of course we would like to see you in both place. Take a look at other traffic evenings to find out the correct time for a visit IRL (In Real Life).

Activities

From the start of the club activities of different kinds, e.g. planned trips, has been an important part of the activities.

Yearly the market in Stockholm's Town Hall (normally the location) called Hjulmarknaden is a typical place where you might find us participating.

Of course, visit to other clubs and social arrangements such us the yearly gatherings of the model railroaders from all over the country are other typical activities.

At least once a year we try to have a trip open for members only, always a "team-building" experience.

Collected Links

Sometimes there is not enough time for a trip in real life, but maybe there is time to make a trip on the Internet. To facilitate for all, e.g. Web Modellers, we have collected some links which are more or less connected to the topic. The link presentations are only in Swedish but we are convinced that you will find some interesting links to follow any way.

One of our members (at that time working in Great Britain) made the following entry in our guest book:

When I started with the railway hobby some 30 years ago and was fascinated by the American model railroads, presented in e.g. the magazine Model Railroader, the term "Armchair Modeller" caught my eye. These were the guys that read about the hobby but rarely built something as I understood it.
Now-a-days, 30 years later, we might add the term "Web Modeller" used for someone surfing around the Internet for the same purpose?
Super! With the SMJ home page I might, as a member, follow the club activities from my home in Great Britain.
